Overview
  • The Astrotek AT-HDMIEXT-4K HDMI extender transmits high-definition video and control signals over standard CAT5 or CAT6 network cabling, eliminating the need for expensive dedicated HDMI cables on long runs. It converts HDMI signals to HDBaseT format for transmission via ethernet, then converts back at the receiving end, supporting resolutions up to 4K x 2K at 30Hz over 40 metres, or 1080p at 60Hz over 70 metres.

The extender features bidirectional infrared control, allowing operators to control both source devices and displays remotely through the same cable run. This makes it ideal for installations where control signals need to travel the same distances as video. RS-232 support provides additional control protocol flexibility for integrated AV systems.

With Power Over Cable (POC) functionality, the receiver unit can be powered through the same network cable, simplifying installation and reducing the need for additional power outlets at remote locations. The included HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures compatibility with modern content protection standards.

FAQs
What is the maximum distance this HDMI extender can reach?

The Astrotek AT-HDMIEXT-4K can extend HDMI signals up to 70 metres over CAT6 cable at 1080p resolution, or 40 metres while supporting 4K x 2K @ 30Hz. Distance and resolution are inversely related—longer runs support lower resolutions.

Does this extender support 4K resolution?

Yes, it supports 4K x 2K resolution at 30Hz over CAT6 cable at distances up to 40 metres. For longer distances up to 70 metres, the maximum resolution is 1080p @ 60Hz.

Can I control devices remotely with this extender?

Yes. The extender includes bidirectional infrared control, allowing you to control both the source device and the display from a remote location. It also supports RS-232 signal transmission for additional control protocol integration.

What does Power Over Cable (POC) mean?

Power Over Cable allows the receiver unit to draw power through the same network cable, eliminating the need for a separate power outlet at the remote display location. This simplifies installation and reduces cable clutter.

Can I use this with CAT5 cable?

Yes, CAT5 cable is supported, but the maximum transmission distance is reduced to 40 metres compared to 70 metres with CAT6. CAT6 is recommended for maximum distance and performance.

Is this compatible with Foxtel?

Yes, the Astrotek AT-HDMIEXT-4K is designed to work with Foxtel and other HDMI-compatible source devices. The bidirectional IR control allows you to operate Foxtel boxes remotely.

What warranty does this product include?

The Astrotek AT-HDMIEXT-4K includes a 12-month manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
